Hi friends!
So today's post is probably something guys could care less about, but I know some women have been wondering all about eyelash extensions. Not the ones you buy from the store and attach yourself; I'm talking about going to someone, lying down, and having them individually applied! I'd always been curious to try them out, and for my birthday, I finally treated myself and got them done!
I went on Yelp to read reviews/compare prices, and found Lashing Diva, whom was doing a first time special of $69. It's very important to go without any makeup on and to have no contact with water for at least 24 hours afterwards, so I made an appointment around noon so that I could get my workout in beforehand.
I got my lashes done by Joanna, who owns Lashing Diva. She was super sweet, and let me take a long nap while she applied the lashes (which I needed - it was leg day!) The process is a bit long, because they apply each individual lash at a time to the lashes you currently have. Also, the length/amount of lashes applied varies based on what lashes you naturally have. I have fairly long lashes, but they are super straight, so I was able to go with the longest lashes she had. The whole process took around 50 minutes.
Before (no makeup, eyelashes not curled)
After!
Yes, they're quite long! But that was what I chose - you do NOT have to have them that long if you wouldn't like them to be. The woman that went in before me got fairly conservative lashes, so it's completely up to you.
There's certain protocol to follow if you want to make your eyelashes last for a while. #1 is no oil based makeup, mascara, eyeliner, skin care, etc. #2 is to sleep on your back. (that didn't happen) #3 is to brush them with a clean mascara brush twice a day, and with a special cleansing solution, which is optional. They can last up to 2-3 weeks; mine lasted for about a week and a half. I think a big part of it was that I wasn't willing to give up sleeping on my side - I value sleep more than lashes!
Would I do it again? Maybe for a special occasion, or if I randomly had money to spend (but like that's ever going to happen) I wish mine had lasted longer.
Was it worth it? Yes. I loved having them, and now that they're gone I miss them!
Would I recommend it? Yes. BUT, keep in mind the price and maintenance. Most places that offer eyelash extension services will have a 1st time special, so keep an eye out for that. DO NOT PAY $100+ TO GET EYELASH EXTENSIONS.
Also, you have the option of getting them refilled, which usually costs much less than getting them first put in. However, you must have at least 50% of the eyelashes still on!
Would you ever get eyelash extensions? Let me know in the comments below! Have any questions about the process, feel free to ask in the comments as well!
