Peanut Butter Troubles

Happy Hump Day!

Today has been a very positive day so far..it's nice to get back into the swing of things; I like being busy!
And today a very special delivery finally arrived...

My food scale!!

I've been meaning to purchase a food scale for a long time now, but never really justified why I needed it. I mean, I can eyeball portions. 3 oz of chicken is the size of your open palm and a tablesoon of peanut butter is the size of a golf ball. Despite this, I haven't been getting the results I want. So, I bought a food scale so I can know exactly what and how much I'm putting into my body. It will probably surprise you; I know it did for me!

At lunch, I used it to measure my chicken breast. That's probably the main reason why I finally decided to buy a scale; everyday the Gastronome serves a  different size chicken breast and I've had no idea how many ounces each one has been. Was I shocked when I discovered that my "bigger-than-the-size-of-my-open-palm" chicken breast turned out to be 3.1 oz! Perfect size :D

But then I used the scale to measure my peanut butter - and then I got sad. I put what I thought was 1/2 tablespoon and saw that in reality, it was 2 tablespoons.

Well.......that explains lot. I overeat peanut butter!
(I always wondered why I seemed to look better when I didn't eat pb)

Oh, and 1/2 tablespoon?
(this is in my "1/2 tablespoon" spoon)

It doesn't even cover half the spoon!! That little smudge of peanut butter is 50 calories!!

I am now one sad human being.

With that being said, I now highly recommend food scales to anyone looking to lose weight. Chances are, you're probably like me and overestimating your peanut butter too...sniffle.....

No protein shake recipe today as I am all out of cottage cheese (and greek yogurt and almond milk and ice and stevia...I need to go grocery shopping ASAP)
