Welcome!

Hi friends, and welcome to the first post of my health/fitness blog! Whether you are a personal friend, family member, or just someone who happened to come across my blog, I thank you in advance for taking the time to read about my crazy journey in health and fitness, and hope you will be able take something from it.

I feel like the creation of this blog has been long overdue. About a year and half back, I, like many others do at some point, got fed up with how I looked and decided to do something about it. There had been moments before this were I noticed that I wasn't particularly happy with my pant size or how I looked in tight T-shirts, but it really hit me when I went on a trip with members of my improv team to a competition. The combination of exposing myself in a two piece and not being able to fit into my dress for the celebration dance really hit me. I was a) unhappy with how I looked b) unhealthy and c) needed to do something about it - soon.

I'd see pictures like this and cringe. I was always around the type of people who could eat whatever they wanted and still look amazing - so why couldn't I do the same? It wasn't until I accepted that I would never be that person, that I made changes to my body.

Another thing that was fighting against me was my love....for sugar. I have one of the worst sweet tooth's you'll ever come across. It's horrible! If a food was sweet, then it somehow found a way in my mouth. When I was at parties and social gatherings, I would essentially BINGE on sugary treats, because I was never satisfied with eating "just a little bit" - hence, why I gained weight and looked bad. I give a lot of credit to Jorge Cruise and his book "The Belly Fat Cure" for teaching me about the effects of sugar and how to live a life as sugarless as possible without suffering. I'm proud to say that I have gone six months without sugar and have now have my addiction under control. (For more information about sugar addiction and how I overcame it, check the "sugar addiction" tab!)

So where am I now? I'm not one of those people that got to their dream body in 3 months. I'm not one of those people that instantly ate healthy, did some workouts, and lost giant amounts of fat. No, I'm one of the turtles, the slow and steady losers; hence, why I'm not at my goal despite it being over a year. But you know what?

I'm happy about that.

I am highly impatient and stubborn and lazy, all qualities about myself I wish I didn't have, but such is life. I moved from workout program to calorie amount week after week because I didn't results fast enough. I'd half ass it in the gym, expecting some fairy dust to sprinkle on me and get me my results. Honestly, I'm surprised that I didn't give up half a year ago.

But, I want this more than anything.

And though I am impatient, stubborn, lazy, and all those bad things, I'm also determined.
If I want something, then bygone it, I'm going to get it.

And here I am now - smarter about nutrition, wiser about exercise, and ready more so than ever to accomplish my goals. In the process I've learned and come across so many tools, tricks, and fun things that I wish I had known before I ever started. I want to share as much as I can with you so that if you too want to get what you want, you won't have to make the same mistakes I did and waste as much time as I did.

I'm not personal trainer, nor do I have any certifications. Heck, I'm not even going to college for this! I do, however, have a deep passion for health and fitness, and have seen and learned from all different types of sources. My wish is to share my journey, and help point others in the right direction of people who are certified (until I myself become certified, if I ever do :D)

I can't wait to share my day to day workouts, discoveries, and help you reach your goals!

Thank you again for taking the time to read this, and I hope you come back again!

Always Performing,
Rachel Dillon
