Resolutions

So, how many New Year's Resolutions did you come up with? 1? 2? None? It seems like society frowns upon making resolutions since the likelihood of people actually following through with them is so small, but I think they're a great way to put yourself into a new, healthier mindset. I came up with two!

1) Document what events happened for each day. Not quite a diary, just bullets of specific things that happened for the day
2) Walk 10,000 steps every day!

The first one has been pretty easy; before I go to bed, I just quickly jot down key things that happened that day; for example, today I put that I went to the gym, shopped at Trader Joes, and watched the Chargers win in their playoff game. The second one, though, is tough! I got a free app on iTunes called "Pacer" that is a pedometer! It tracks all your steps you take in the day - you just have to make sure to keep your iPhone on you, like in your pocket or in your purse. So far, I take only about 1000 steps a day, which puts me in the sedentary level. :( Time to step it up and make 10,000 a habit!

Not really a resolution, but I came up with a mantra for what I want my 2014 to be.

THIS IS IT.

Simple, but deep. And truthful. This is it - the year I'm going to accomplish my goals that I've pushed to the side, and create a new path for my life.

I think the reason why people "fail" at their resolutions is that they think they are ultimate; that January 1st is the only day they can resolve to make changes to their life. People! We have the power, at any given moment of our life, to make a change. We do not need a date, or a new year, to dictate when we can start making changes to our self.

I'm ready for 2014 and to accomplish my goals.

Are you?
